Have you ever had the pleasure of entertaining friends or family that had just come over to your house? It’s interesting playing host and sometimes you want to leave your guests with a memorable experience. So you decide to go full throttle creative mode to wow your guests. There are also times when your guests come along with their kids and you grownups just want to have the adult conversations, without the kids of course. It may also be a scenario where men want to discuss as “boys” while the women have the “girl talk” in the lounge or kitchen. Whatever the case, I have just the thing for you that can be a lifesaver when entertaining your guests. It’s called a games room. What is a games room? It’s a room that contains all sorts of games (don’t say duh, I feel smart right now for explaining this to you). Okay, I guess what you really need to know is what should be in the ultimate games room. Observe:
Pool TableDiscovered in the 15th century and played by kings of that time, pool was originally an outdoor game played on the lawn. It was later brought indoors hence the green material which resembles the lawn. Pool tables are a great accessory to add to the games room and can entertain you for hours.
A must have in the ultimate games room, will surely entertain your guests as the game becomes competitive to see who has the best aim. Just be careful to make sure that everyone is in the clear before you throw that pointed dart as it may cause serious injury.
Make sure you have a variety of board games to cater for kids and adults as well. Board games such as Chess, Monopoly and playing cards are a good add as they teach strategy and require a bit of thinking.
People will need a nice place to sit while playing board games, a table with chairs will do. If you can, get a big round table where all the player can see each other and engage in a circular fashion.
You need some good music and speakers that create a relaxing and fun ambience allowing people to loosen up. Get yourself a good playlist for different guests or if you can, just play no-word beats to avoid complications.
You have to get one, gaming consoles have unlimited titles to keep your guests engaged for hours and generate some good vibes. If you want an icebreaker, get a gaming console and let people play in teams with each other or against each other.
Get a large TV screen. Gameplay is enjoyed best on big TV screens, it’s a fact. You could also try hooking up a high lumens projector. The choice is yours. A TV is also ideal when people want to watch a sports game together.
A couch for people to sit on whilst watching a sports match or when playing games on the console is great.
Connectivity is essential, make sure your games room has internet access to play online games on the console or just allow guests to stay connected on social media and do video calls.
Now because the ultimate games room is for all, it is important to ensure that you observe safety especially where kids are concerned. Have lockable compartments for games such as darts, which have sharp arrows that can injure kids. If possible, let the kids play with some supervision in the games room.
