Things to avoid for a better life

You only live once. It is your responsibility to live your best life. A life that when you are old and you reflect back you do not regret on what could have been. Time is constantly moving forward and with each and every second your history is being written. How do you want people to remember you? What will be your legacy? Be the hero of your story by living a great life. Many at times we often forget that life as we know it is fragile and we take it for granted by making choices that will not do us no good. Sometimes we know that it’s not in our best interests but still we do it anyway…that’s being human. At times we do not know the consequences or after effects of our present actions. In my opinion, there are a couple of things that when avoided can lead to a better and more fulfilling life. I have listed them below but please take them with a grain of salt as they not complete in their entirety, it’s just my perspective:

Debt or Loans

A loan can be lifesaver when in crisis. They are an essential service and when used correctly add value. However, one should take loans responsibly in order to avoid accumulating debt and subsequently failing to pay the loans. Where possible try and minimize the rate at which you take loans. Instead of taking loans to buy non-assets such as a car (a car is a liability by the way, unless you use it as a uber taxi to make you extra cash then it’s an asset)  save the amount of several months. Failure to pay loans can end of giving you stress and eventually an unhappy life.

Overspending

If you can, live below your means as this will lessen your financial pressure. Understand the difference between needs and wants. Needs are usually stuff that you depend on for survival for example water. Wants are usually stuff you can live without like the latest gadget. If you can afford it that’s fine but it is important that you spend money on the things you need and save that extra money for a rainy day. Be money conscious by checking your spending habits and giving yourself a budget to work with.

Overworking

We all need to work in order to afford the things we want and take care of our loved ones. Making money feels good, you may feel the need to keep going and taking on more work. However, it’s important that we strike a balance between work and rest. Resting enables your body to recover and re-energize. Fatigue caused by overworking may lead you to perform poorly at the job you were once good at. You may find yourself taking longer to complete tasks or notice a decrease in attention to detail. Make sure you do not overwork yourself.

Substance Abuse

Avoid substance abuse at all costs. Continued use of drugs leads to addiction. Once a person is addicted they develop an over reliance on the drug and cannot function properly without it. This in turn affects a person’s judgement and may end up spending money they don’t have to get a “high “. A person may have no recollection of what transpired when they were high which may leave them vulnerable to getting mugged or abused.

Not getting enough sleep

Rest is essential; not getting enough sleep may permanently affect your mood. A person may experience feeling of irritability, drowsiness, tiredness and general lack of motivation. Give yourself 7- 8 hours of sleep daily.

Not exercising regularly

Not exercising may lead to health complications or obesity. Exercise regularly to stay fit and shape up.
